Surah Ar-Rum begins with a prophecy about the defeat and subsequent victory of the Romans over the Persians, serving as a sign for believers. It emphasizes Allah's signs in creation, the universe, and human life as proofs of His existence and power. The Surah contrasts the fate of those who recognize these signs with those who deny them, calling people to reflect on the natural world and the inevitability of resurrection.
Allah's signs are evident in history and nature. The rise and fall of nations follow divine laws. True success comes from recognizing Allah's unity and living according to His guidance.
The Prophet (PBUH) highlighted this Surah's prophecies as evidence of the Quran's divine origin. Its recitation is said to increase awareness of Allah's signs in creation. Scholars note its powerful arguments against atheism and materialism.
- 'And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves...'
- 'So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth...'
- 'Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by what the hands of people have earned...'
History and nature testify to Allah's truth. Worldly powers are temporary while divine truth is eternal. Human corruption leads to environmental and social decay.
